Antarctica: The Lost Treasure

Antarctica: The Lost Treasure
This was an assignment I did for my Introduction to 3D Modelling module, for this assignment we had to make a 3D environment based around the theme of hidden/lost treasure, to which I decided to create an environment set in Antarctica where the treasure is a golden fish. The main aim of this assignment was to practice texturing as well as knowing how to effectively model a 3D environment. We also had to include a hero object in the centre of the environment, I chose to model a shovel for mine to represent the method in which the player would have to find the treasure in the snow.
This is a poster created in Photoshop of the environment containing a render with textures included, which were made utilising Substance Sampler and Substance Painter. Since the environment is based in Antarctica I made a lot of ice and snow textures, which were used for a good portion of the models as we could only use a maximum of 8 textures for the assignment. In the middle of the environment is the shovel I modelled, which is the main point of attention for the viewer to focus on.
This is another render of the environment showing the topology and everything else, the render was also made grey so the topology was more visible overall.
This is the golden fish I modelled. I placed it inside of the pyramid and out of view so the viewer would have to look around to find the treasure, thus adding to the feeling of it being "hidden" treasure as it's inside the snow pyramid which is a more obscured area of the map.
